Great way to end the year

It’s sorta been a tradition for us to have “Game Night” at our house on New Years Eve. We like to have our friends come over, hang out, drink a little (or more) and ring in the new year safe and sound. If anybody has had too much to drink, our couches are freely available (or the bathroom floor, if they prefer (you know who you are)). Last year we had a baby sitter on New Years so decided to forego Game Night and spent New Years Eve on the Las Vegas Strip. We had a good time, but honestly, I’d much rather have a room full of friends than a street full of a million strangers.
Saturday was a lot of fun. A buddy showed up at our place around 4:00 PM and we played poker for 3-4 hours. Then, we switched to Scrabble. Shortly after that started, a group of folks showed up. They entertained themselves with the Atari Flashback 2.0. A bad-ass gift I got for Christmas that has about 40 built in Atari classics. (thanks babe!) After Scrabble was over we started what would become the MARATHON game of Trivial Pursuit. It ended somewhere around 1:30 AM. I was thinking yesterday that the way to do it would have been to make just 2 teams. That way each team would almost surely have somebody who knew the answes to most questions… The game would have endend MUCH sooner. But, we had a good time regardless.
So, for next year, if it’s up to me, on New Years Eve you’ll be able to find us sitting in our living room playing a game with a great group of friends. I can’t think of a better way to end the year!
